Today, Brandon and I, along with a few friends of mine, are starting the 21 Day Sugar Detox.
It isn’t as crazy as you might be thinking! It’s actually fairly in line we how we strive to eat, which is a Paleo/Primal diet. Except for the next 21 days, we will be cutting out all sugars to rebalance our bodies and stop our cravings for sugar and carbs. We’ve kind of fallen off the wagon and are hoping that this will help.
What’s allowed? (*not the complete list)
Meats, tons of veggies, nut butters (except peanuts), nuts & seeds (except peanuts), full-fat dairy, one green apple or green tipped banana each day.
What’s not allowed? (*not complete)
Grains, refined carbs, beans, artificial and real sugars, fruit, most beverages
Like I said, it won’t be hard for us in most regards. But I’m a fruit fiend! I eat fruit like mad. Maybe this is what I need, though, to curb my addiction to the sugars in the fruit.
I have meals planned and ideas for snacks to replace all my fruit. Penny will be eating along with us though she gets to have fruit while I watch with a twinge of jealousy. One good thing about this that will make it easier is I get a 1/2 cup of sweet potatoes with each meal because I’m nursing. And I love me some sweet potatoes!
Next Thursday, once it’s been a week, I’m going to update you on my progress. There are a few points I want to follow:
1. Mental - How my sleep, alertness and mental clarity improve.
2. Emotional – How I react emotionally to… everything.
3. Physical – If my acne improves and my stomach flattens.
Come on back Thursday to see how my journey is going!
