I want to do a sprint triathlon!
Woo! Out in the open! Now that it's written down, I have to do it!
I've always been interested in triathlons, but figured I'd never do one. It was the running that was holding me back. Remember my plantar fasciitis? I just couldn't fathom running a mile, let alone three or more. I thought running wasn't in my future anymore.
And then I discovered Vibrams and barefoot running. I started doing the Couch to 5k program again and now I am on week 6 and going strong. My feet haven't hurt one bit. I want to cry sometimes, thinking of that. Three years ago, I could barely run without horrible pain shooting up my legs. Now, I can do it! So my goal, before announcing (or even thinking about a sprint triathlon) was to make sure I could run. And I can!
Once I finish the C25k program, I'm going to start working on biking and swimming. I'm only doing a sprint triathlon, which is a 5k/3.1 mile run, 750m swim, and 20k/12 mile bike. I get excited just thinking about it.
I still have to find a race though... I want to do one this winter sometime.
By the way, I ran two miles straight on Sunday with Brandon. That was the first time I did that since college. It was amazing! And I couldn't breathe, but I felt good at the end. Again, I wanted to cry, it was so cool. I wasn't even worried about going quickly, I just wanted to finish, but I ran it in just over 20 min. Better than nothing!
So there you have it, I'm going to do a sprint triathlon!
I took this on Monday - 7 months post-baby. I'm ten pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight now. That's running and juicing for you! I feel great!!
