June 18th

Today, we celebrate four years in the Army. June 18th, 2008, Brandon officially started his Army job after being commissioned a few weeks before. We had just returned from our honeymoon to Mexico and he was off again to spend a couple months in Washington. Army life, right?

Exactly a year after his start date, Brandon was graduating IBOLC, a 2LT about to start his journey in the Infantry. We were in Georgia, living the life, and a couple months later we were moving back to Hawaii.

And exactly a year ago today, Brandon came home from Iraq.

Has it really been a year? Holy moly. I feel like the entire deployment was such a blur and suddenly here we are, a year out, a 6 month old in our arms, living in Alabama while Brandon attends flight school as a warrant officer. Wow.

It's funny how so many things can fall on June 18th. This year is more laid-back, which is nice. Maybe next year he'll be graduating flight school on this date? Only time will tell.

  2. If he graduates flight school (especially in 64s) in under a year, things have definitely changed!
