Fresh New Start

Have you entered my Jane's Cellar Giveawar yet? It's an awesome prize for one awesome follower! Today is the last day to enter!

I like moving. I tell Brandon it's the gypsy in me, but I truly enjoy moving. Maybe not the packing up, living in hotels, setting back up, part... but yes, I like moving.

Here's why: You have an opportunity for a fresh new start. You're going to a new place where you can meet new people, see new sights, and set up a new-to-you home. Every place we've lived I've learned something new and with the next place, I can implement that knowledge and improve our lives.

I have a few goals that I've been tossing through my head the past few days and I wanted to get them in writing before I completely forgot. Here's what I want to accomplish once we get to Alabama.

Shop at the Farmer's Market more.
The town Farmer's Market will be much closer this time than the one here. I want to buy most of our fruit and veggies there. I'm always striving to live as organically as possible, especially with our food, and this is one of those steps to take. And heck, who doesn't like farmer's markets?

Make my own cleaning products.
I've been wanting to do this for awhile and now that all my cleaning products have been tossed, I can start fresh! I want to clean with vinegar and baking soda, and I have a good recipe for my own laundry soap. That's the plan! I'm always looking for new ways to avoid chemicals.

Bake my own bread & make my own pasta.
I was inspired by my friend, who bakes her own bread every day, to make my own. It's so easy and so much cheaper. This way I can control the ingredients. Plus, the bread is oh so tasty. All I need is a new paddle for my bread machine, so I don't have to do it all by hand...

Same goes with pasta. I'm hoping to get the pasta attachment for my Kitchenaid for my birthday (that and the sausage attachment... and maybe the ice cream one... crossing my fingers!). Then I can make our own pasta! We eat a lot of it, so that is helpful.

Cleaning more.
This is the only one not associated with healthy living... it's more to do with my sanity. I seriously started to slack the last year in my cleaning. I'm not even going to use the pregnancy excuse! After cleaning the house for hours and hours before we moved I vowed I would stay on top of it. I found a good cleaning schedule on Pinterest, so if I tweak it a bit to work for us, I think I'll start following it. I need to keep the house clean! And darn it, I need to vacuum more than once a week with these pets of mine. Maybe even every day... I'll do it!

These are my plans... I can do it! I'm so looking forward to getting to Alabama and getting to work on them.

Do you look forward to moving? Do you make new goals?

PS: Thanks for the lovely comments on my last post! They were super encouraging! You guys are all great!

  1. I like your goals for your move! You'll totally have to share how your pasta making goes! I've wanted to try for some time, but haven't found the motivation yet :)

I really like moving too :)

  2. I like moving, to an extent. If it's for a PCS than I don't mind and it excites me. But my husband has a problem with staying in a place for too long and I get tired of moving, just to move.

  3. I love moving too. I've never lived in the same house more than a few years. And, I love all your goals! I actually have pretty much the same goals for when Daniel comes home. I want to go to the farmer's market for our produce and clean a lot more regularly. It's just been me the past year and the dogs. You would think it would be sooo easy to stay on top of the house. But, it's been such a freaking mess!

  4. I LOVE moving! We used to move every 3-4 years and it was always so exciting. We've been in the same house for 10 years now and every Spring I get the itch to uproot and move! Someday...
Your goals are great! I'm interested to hear how the homemade pasta turns out. That's something I've always wanted to try.

  5. Nice goals! I'm going to have to take a peek on your pinterest board for that cleaning schedule!
