38 Weeks!

How Far Along: 38 weeks, 2 weeks to go! It's almost D-Day!

Size of baby: Baby S is 19-21 inches long, the size of a leek/watermelon (yikes), and weighs around 6.5 pounds.

Weight Gain/Loss: I'm at 167 now. Seems the weight gain has slowed down, like the books have promised.

Body Changes: Nothing new this week.

Gender: It's a GIRL!

Movement: She rolls a lot, making my stomach look weird! And lots of hiccups, usually in the middle of the night. It's fun, but getting kind of uncomfortable.

Sleep: If I didn't have a dumb cat, I'd probably sleep a little better. Last night I was awake for 2 hours in the middle of the night. The night before, I slept fitfully because of weird dreams. I hope tonight I get a good nights sleep!

What I'm looking forward to: Sleeping on my back...

Cravings: Chocolate! I made chocolate chocolate chip muffins on Monday and today, I'm making banana bread with chocolate chips. Yum.

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks, mild cramping, an achy belly, a numb rib that hurts sometimes, some sciatic nerve pain... my body is falling apart!

Best Moment This Week: I had another OB appointment this morning. From now on, I have one every week until 41 weeks. I hope the baby comes before then haha. It was an awesome appointment and the midwife was really cool. I hope she delivers our baby!

We're nearing D-Day with every step. I'm so excited to see what she looks like and how she acts, but terrified to start this new journey. I feel prepared and so unprepared at the same time. But that's to be expected. :)

Hey It's Okay Tuesday!

Link up!

Photobucket

Hey, It's Okay...

To enjoy the cooler weather here. I'm seriously missing snow right about now. Sometimes I just get tired of the constant sunshine... yes, I said it!

To love your new camera a little too much.

To take a bazillion photos of the dog and cat with this new camera. Winston is a great model, Dexter... not so much. We're working on it.

To be happy that finally I figured out what was up with my sewing machine!! I guess the bobbin thread wasn't going into the tension spring half the time. It would've been nice if they had clarified this in the instructions instead of saying "wind the thread under this thing and you're good." I was not good. I had to go on a days-long search online to find answers.

To have made chocolate chocolate chip muffins yesterday... because I could.

To be freaking out a little bit about having a baby. My friend says this happens with every baby.

To be excited for our garage sale this Saturday!

To think it was gross that I had to take out Brandon's stitches last night. He had something removed from his chin and got two baby stitches. They told him to get them out on Monday and he decided to use me instead of a trained professional. It was kinda fun, but gross. Just gross.

To have wanted to cheat on NaNoWriMo this year but didn't... almost at 50k!

To have had weird dreams last night...

To finally have a flight school class date!! It's not set in stone, but it's pretty certain. Now we have to get the ball rolling on this whole PCS thing. Yay!

Christmas Decorations

We had a very typical weekend here. The weather has turned a little cooler (Hawaii cool, mind you. Like mid-60s to mid-70s), so we never made it to the beach. Really, we didn't leave the house much at all. On Saturday, we did go get some Thai takeout, and yesterday we went grocery shopping. I know, we're exciting people.

Brandon was completely exhausted, that's the main reason we didn't do much. What with staying up all night for Black Friday and then having staff duty the next night, he had a rough time. He was in a daze all of Saturday, I'm not sure if he remembers anything.

Anyway, I took advantage of his staff duty and decided to put out my Christmas decorations!! This year was early for me, but since we're getting close to D-Day, I wanted to get things done before it was too late. It's not like we have many decorations anyway. Most of the stuff we have this year, I've collected in the last couple of weeks.

I used this opportunity to try out my new camera :P

We got a "new" tree at a garage sale and I love it! It's so much better than the one we had before. I bought some garlands and a star to spruce it up.

I bought this frame at the Thrift Shop and inserted an old Christmas card - Bam! Instant Christmas decoration!

This is my first Christmas decoration. I love my little Santa :D

More Thrift Shop finds:

And then we put the stockings up the stairs.

It's looking more festive in here! I love it! Winston also loves that he has all kinds of new toys to play with... a tree, candy canes, stockings... it'll be a long month with this cat!

A Great Man

Earlier this week, we received bad news: My Grandpa was back in the hospital and they didn't think he was going back home.

Yesterday morning, more bad news: He probably wasn't going to make it very much longer.

And then in the afternoon, my mom called: Grandpa had passed away.

I'm sad that he had to go but happy that the cancer won't be hurting him any longer. He lived a wonderful, full life and I know that in the end, he was happy.

He was born in August of 1931, the fourth child to his parents, but the first to be born in Canada to Slovakian immigrants. He grew up on a farm and when he was done there, decided to join the Canadian Air Force. Later, he would own and operate one of the most successful gas stations and car repair shops in the city.

He met my Nanny when their siblings began dating, and they ended up getting married when she was 18 and he was 22.

My Aunt Joni was born shortly thereafter, followed by my mom a year and a bit later. My Aunt Jill came 5 years after that. They raised their three girls to be successful women, and now have eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren with two more on the way. What a legacy.

My Grandpa was a stubborn man who wasn't afraid to tell you what he thought. He was funny, helpful, and caring. He wanted to do things on his own and his own way, right up until the end. He truly was a great man.

We love you, Grandpa!

Black Friday - We Survived!

We did it. We survived Black Friday. And we didn't get trampled, pushed, screamed at or pepper sprayed! Alright, we only went to the PX, so we were a bit safer!

Brandon and I don't normally do Black Friday. We just don't have the money usually or the desire to buy extra stuff. One year, we did stand in line for 3 hours at GameStop for a Wii, back when they were hard to find... but that was a one-time thing. This year was going to be the same, just hanging out at home.

Until I found out the DSLR camera I wanted, the Nikon d5100, was on sale at the PX for $697, including a case!

We fell asleep sometime between 8-9 and set the alarm for 11:30. I ended up waking up at 10:30 with some bad heartburn, but once that was fixed, we managed to sleep a bit longer. Then at 11:30 we hopped out of bed, dressed, packed some snacks and entertainment, and headed for the PX. Thank goodness we live pretty much in sight of the building so we didn't have far to go.

The line stretched around the interior and all the way into the food court, where we found our places. It moved pretty quickly once the door opened. We headed straight for the cameras and found a place to stand - 3rd in line for the camera! Then it was a waiting game.

Come 1am, I was starting to feel it. I had wanted to be strong and stay, but Brandon told me it was fine, he'd stand guard while I go nap for a couple hours. I married a great guy! I slept probably an hour and a half before heading back to the PX just before 3:30am. By that time, we were 2nd in line for the camera and Brandon had found out they had 11 to give out - yay us!

Come 4am, they finally started letting us buy the things. The lady who was first in line was annoying us (maybe because we were tired, but she had a huge cartful of junk and was disputing prices...) but we finally bought our camera!! Then we headed straight to the door, back in the car and came home to sleep for a few more hours.

Brandon is so out of it and he has staff duty all day and night. Again, I married a great guy!

Thanksgiving was a fun time yesterday too. We were surrounded by good friends and good food. I couldn't ask for a better day!

And today? I'm putting up Christmas decorations - I want this house to be festive finally!

37 Weeks!

How Far Along: 37 weeks, 3 weeks to go!

Size of baby: Baby S is 19-21 inches long, the size of a watermelon (yikes), and weighs around 6 pounds.

Weight Gain/Loss: I'm at 166 now. That's about 24 pounds gained. Good deal!

Body Changes: Nothing new this week.

Gender: It's a GIRL!

Movement: Lots of rolling and pushing these days. It's kind of uncomfortable! She's running out of room.

Sleep: I've been so sleepy lately. Last night I slept a good 10 hours and only woke up once or twice. It's all preparation.

What I'm looking forward to: Being able to bend over, sit down or stand back up without grunting.

Cravings: The usual... fruit and other sugary stuff. And pumpkin pie.

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks, mild cramping, a numb rib.

Best Moment This Week: I suppose it would be getting my maternity photos done. They were great! Also buying Christmas presents for little baby.

I guess I'm considered full term now. I couldn't imagine having the baby yet, though! I don't think she's coming before December, and I'm still betting I'll go past my due date. We'll see though.

Christmas Shopping!

Today was one of my big shopping days! It's so weird to be Christmas shopping in November (for me anyway) but with only three weeks until my due date, I had to get some stuff done.

Brandon's list is basically done. I love it! I'm just missing a couple little things for his stocking, but I'll get those soon. I had to wait to go shopping until today because a very special present wasn't available until today. Oh, I wish I could tell you guys, but I can't risk it if he decides to check out my blog! I just can't wait another month for him to open his presents, he'll be so happy.

I also did some shopping for Baby Girl! Let's hope she comes BEFORE Christmas, right? I bought some cute fuzzy booties, a snuggly blanket, and four special baby board books to start her library.

My favorite things I wanted to buy her? Some B. blocks and a Leapfrog Violet puppy dog! The dog is programmable to say her name (whatever that is) and the blocks are soft and squeak. I've been waiting to buy stuff like this! I just needed a baby :P

So I wandered around Target for awhile trying to find other stuff, like ornament hooks. Seriously, I spent the majority of my time searching for those damn hooks. Finally an employee showed me - they were on a bottom shelf. What a dumb place lol. Luckily, they were right underneath the tree toppers, which I also couldn't find.

Did I tell you guys we found a new Christmas tree at a garage sale? $15 and I have a new, fluffier tree! I'm so excited to put it up on Friday. I have all kinds of decorations ready to go up!

What else did I buy... I was there for so long, my brain is fuzzy. Oh, I got Winston some toys for Christmas, but nothing for Dexter yet. He'll get his presents soon!

I still have more stuff to get but I'm feeling better and better about it all. I love giving gifts!

Maternity Photos = Success!

Maternity photos were a success! And first I'm going to bore you with weekend details, but if you just want to see the photos, scroll on down ;)

Saturday: We started off with sleeping in, the both of us. Then we were lazy for awhile. We decided to hit up the big mall in town and check out a camera store plus get a bit of lunch. We ended up eating at Bubba Gump's and OMG, it was delicious. We shared popcorn shrimp, some dip and a fish & chips tray. Our tummies hurt afterwards!!

We went home and relaxed, then cleaned ourselves up for our photo shoot! Which is below :P

Sunday: This was our errand day. I called my dad first thing because it's his b-day (happy birthday!), then we went grocery shopping. After making breakfast, we went shopping at the PX, but ended up with nothing. Not even a sales ad for Black Friday! Grr. We had baked potatoes for lunch (our current obsession) and then went shopping, again. We were on the hunt for an h-clip for the car seat, but every store turned up cold. I did come back with some Christmas decorations from Wal-Mart and a laundry rack from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It wasn't too bad.

Back home, we discovered that our car seat actually had an h-clip, so good thing we didn't buy one, haha. We installed the seat to our liking. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon Skyping with family, vacuuming, dusting and doing laundry. Ok, I did most of that stuff...

Alright, alright, you sat through that little update... Here are some of our photos!

I picked some of the cute funny ones to show you. Our photographer, my friend Bonnie-Jean, was awesome! She came with all kinds of ideas and was very patient. I think she did an awesome job. We took these photos at the health clinic, of all places. It was a beautiful location and no one was there on a Saturday afternoon. Anyway, here ya go!

We were zen-ing out until Brandon took a peek ;)
 Talking to the baby

Reading a book to the baby :)
 Being silly against a wall!
One of my favorite photos so far :)

We have a WHOLE bunch more, so this is a little sample. Thanks for suggesting the outfits, I think we look great!

Friday Junk

It's time for a junk post to get my thoughts out of my brain!

1. I'll be drawing for my giveaway tonight. Like in 6 hours or whatever. So enter now and keep an eye out to see if you won!

2. I love our chiropractor, he's so cool. He's been making my pregnant back feel so much better! Not to mention the magic he's done with Brandon. My husband is a changed man - his mood has improved so much now that he's not in constant pain. Oh, and the podiatrist has basically fixed his ankle (or at least the pain), so that's a major plus. Yay fixing!

3. Attended the monthly spouses club luncheon yesterday. It was fun! We had a bunch of silent auction items but I'm cheap so I was outbid on them all. However, I did win an awesome prize: A Scentsy warmer and 2 scents! Rocking!
 4. We're doing our maternity photos tomorrow!! We have two decisions to make right now.
1) We might do them at the beach, unless the weather sucks, then we'll be doing them at some cool buildings on post. But I could always decide to do them on post anyway... which sounds like a cool idea. I dunno!
2) What should we wear?! I have two shirts picked out for each of us.

It's either a brown shirt & khaki shorts for me, and a green plaid shirt for Brandon... or a red shirt & khaki shorts and a blue & red plaid shirt for Brandon.

Let me know which you would choose!

Pregnancy: What They Don't Tell You

Enter my Harry Potter giveaway now!

I've had several people ask me if at this point, I'm ready to just be done with pregnancy. I tell them no, not yet, because truly, I'm not. It hasn't been THAT bad for me and I haven't had any real complaints, even at this point. Oh, and the whole giving birth and then coming home with a baby is freaking me out a little bit as the day approaches!

Anyway, my little sister (who is now un-pregnant and has a cute baby girl) and I would spend many a day complaining about random pregnancy things. We would always say, no one ever told us about this. Because really, unless you're reading the books or experiencing it first-hand, you only hear a little bit of pregnancy things. The usual: Morning sickness, being tired, swelling, stretch marks...

I want to let you know some of the other stuff that they don't tell you about!

Your body will hurt in places you wouldn't expect.
It started with a pain in my butt... literally. My right butt cheek hurt! Come to find out, it was probably sciatic nerve pain, yay. I've had sharp pains in my left mid-back, ribs that felt like they were popping out of my body, and shooting pains up and down my legs at night. Owies.

Hemorrhoids.
If you don't know what that is, look it up :P

Along those lines... going to the bathroom won't be as exciting anymore.
Yep, I'm being candid here, I don't look forward to bathroom trips anymore. First, I just go way too much now! Second, it's harder to maneuver once you get bigger. Third... well, things hurt going out. (See previous entry).

You'll be exhausted.
Like unbelievably, inexplicably, exhausted. Since I didn't announce my pregnancy to the world until the second trimester, I couldn't explain to most everyone why between the times of 2 and 4, I just wanted to pass out. Then the second trimester I was fine. Now I get tired so easily from the shortest activities!

Feeling the baby move is super cool, but also weird.
It's magical to imagine a little person growing inside of you until she kicks you in the bladder. And then seeing your stomach move up and down is kinda... creepy. But I like it. :P

You'll go numb.
This doesn't happen to everyone, but it happened to my sister and I. Her belly was numb from the belly button down. I'm numb along my right ribs between my belly and my boob. (Don't worry, it's perfectly fine, I checked.)

You'll drop everything...
Seriously, everything falls out of my hands. Usually electronics into water.

...and you won't be able to pick it up.
It's hard to bend over! Good thing I've been practicing my squats.

You'll laugh until you cry and you'll cry until you laugh.
Brandon is never sure if I'm crying or laughing, so he has to ask. I tell him, both!

But really, you'll be amazed at the transformation your body takes.
Your body is a machine. It's made to have babies, truthfully. Things will grow and change and stretch, but it's all completely part of the game. It's been so cool seeing how much pregnancy does to me, but I enjoy it! Seriously, how often in your life are you pregnant? (Um, unless you're Michelle Duggar, probably only a few times.)

36 Weeks!

How Far Along: 36 weeks, 4 weeks to go! (We're in the 9th month now)

Size of baby: Baby S is over 18 inches long, the size of a melon, and weighs about 5-6 pounds.

Weight Gain/Loss: I haven't gained much this week. This morning I was 164.2, though a couple days I was 165.4. At the doc today, I was 164. Nice.

Body Changes: Discovered some stretch marks on my thighs. Boo.

Gender: It's a GIRL!

Movement: She is a machine these days. Anytime I'm still, I start feeling her pressing against my belly. I think she's been getting hiccups because there's a rhythmic movement occasionally. Oh, and she likes to dance a lot in the middle of the night. I'm hitting a point where it's a bit uncomfortable!

Sleep: There's good days and bad days. Usually I wake up once or twice to pee (do I seriously have that much liquid in me?) and then sometimes I wake up just to lay there frustrated lol

What I'm looking forward to: Maternity photos this weekend! We couldn't do them this past weekend. Oh, and not having to pee every 15 minutes.

Cravings: Nothing major these days.

Symptoms: The usual. Braxton Hicks. Some back aches. Slight swelling.

Best Moment This Week: I had my 36 week appointment today and I have to say, it went awesome. Seriously, the midwife we had was just fantastic. She was funny and she addressed my concerns with ease. She kept saying they won't stop labor at this point and I said I won't be having this baby until December.

Oh geez, four weeks until my due date. Scary!
