Day Three Hundred Four

It was raining yesterday and after checking the weather forecast, I figured today would be the same. I was wrong! Oh my goodness, it was beautiful, mid-80s, with bright blue skies and tiny little white clouds floating by. Just perfect. Everything was brilliantly colored. I just loved it.

Oddly, I didn't spend that much time outside. I spent the morning watching TV before I showered and went to the PX for some basic stuff. Back home, I cleaned (and even cleaned off my bedroom ceiling fan!) and listened to some Pandora. It was nice!

Later in the afternoon, I had to head down the road to sign Dexter up for dog training. I'm so excited to start it!! With me leaving my job next month, I'll have plenty of Saturday's free for us to learn. Oh, and I was expecting to have to pay because I didn't think I was still a member of the club. Come to find out, I'm still on the list, so the class was free. Awesome!

Since I had some time, I decided to go to Borders. Sadly, the store nearest us is closing, but good news for us... they've been slashing prices. Right now it's at 50-70% off list price. I like that idea! I ended up wandering around the entire store checking out each section, and this is what I came back with:

The bottom book is a boring one about manuscripts and query letters, haha. Then there's an old map of Sydney, for our trip. The other book is called Salt and is by Mark Kurlansky. I've been wanting this book for, oh, 3 years or so, but never got down to buying it. It was the last on the shelf. It's another "boring" book, about the history of salt and how important it was to the ancient world.

The rest of the day was just more chilling. I went to say hi to my neighbors for about an hour and they offered to bring me over some dinner - score. They also lent me Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1 to watch - score again. I was waiting for when Brandon got home to watch it... but whatever. He's been watching all kinds of movies I wanted to see without me. :P

Can you guys believe that it's the end of April? Holy moly, it went by fast!!

Day Three Hundred Three

It's done.

Ok, now that I potentially gave you a little heartbreak, I have good news - we're done with something good!! Brandon submitted his Aviation Warrant Officer packet today. Yes!

Now don't get me started on why he's switching from officer to warrant officer. We just know that this path is right for him and we're very confident with the decision. We're excited to think of him learning to fly! Even if it means I have to move to Alabama for a couple years. I'm very sure that he will be accepted, but we have to wait until July before we find out. Keep your fingers crossed!

Sooo.... I got up at 5:30am this morning to watch a little wedding that I DVR'd. OMG, how beautiful are they?

The wedding was fantastic. Sure, the ceremony was kind of boring, but I could fast forward through a lot of it. I was most excited about the dress. I didn't think I would be, but when she stepped out I just fell in love. It's sooooo beautiful. I thought it was tasteful and appropriate and just perfect for her. Very complimentary to his uniform too.

It made me think of our wedding and my own groom in his uniform. He was just as handsome as Prince William!

Anyway, I loved the wedding. Why not? It's a piece of history we all got to witness. I wish them all the best, as I wish every married couple!

I just have one question though... what the eff is going on with Princess Beatrice's hat?

Day Three Hundred Two

I have no shame, so I'll come right out and say it: I'm excited for the royal wedding.

I mean, really, what's wrong with being excited for it? It'll be full of beautiful outfits, beautiful people, and at a beautiful location. Ever been to Westminster Abbey? I have. It's kind of nice. Ever been to Buckingham Palace? I have. My little sister and I got lost right around there. And yeah, it's kind of nice.

And seriously, who cares if people are excited about it? I heard all the usual arguments... "They're British, who cares!" "Why is this news!" "We don't have a monarchy, why care about this one?" Whatever. People are fascinated with royalty in America because it's such a foreign idea. And Americans like celebrities. Just look at all these reality shows with celebrities, look at our obsession with the celebrity magazines. And what's wrong with a little love story that's got us all wound up in these terrible times? What's wrong with a little hope?

Ok, off my soap box. I'm excited. Unfortunately, the wedding is on from 11pm to 2am here and I am not staying up. That would kill me, especially with the work day I'll be having tomorrow. I will be DVRing it and I'm contemplating getting up early to watch it before work. Yeah, I know, a bit crazy, but I've been looking forward to this for awhile!

Why not? They're such a pretty couple!

And in other news... Dexter was being a weirdo today while we played fetch. I would throw the ball and he'd watch it bounce, then look back at me like I was supposed to get it. Um, no. I would start walking towards it and he would get it. This happened twice before I threw it in the towel.

Ahhhh... almost Maaayyyy!!!

Day Three Hundred One

I woke up this morning to an awesome photo in my inbox:

It's Brandon and Toby Keith!

Granted, I knew the guy was coming and I told Brandon that he better get a photo with him or else, but it's still cool to wake up to this. I promptly put it on Facebook and it got a great response. So lucky of Brandon!!

After work today, I brought Dexter on a nice walk around the neighborhood. My sister called while I was out and we had a nice little chat. But when I got home, disaster struck - another fire alarm was dying and started beeping!

Dexter was terrified. He ran to the other side of the house with his tail between his legs. I climbed on a stool and ripped the thing out of the ceiling, and it gave one last final beep before it shut off. I put it outside in case it decided to beep again and as I opened the door, Dexter ran out. No amount of bribing could bring him back in! So I grabbed his collar eventually and pulled him inside. Poor guy.

Aaaand that was the excitement for the day! Hope you're doing well!

Day Three Hundred

Guess what day it is?

Oh yeah it is!

Yeah, I tried looking for a good 300 clipart and every one of my short searches came up with the movie 300. Ah well, it works, right?

There's something about Day 300 that just makes me breathe a sigh of relief. Maybe because now, there won't be anymore 100 days gone milestones. Now, there's exactly 65 days until a year. And I know a bit of info... someone isn't staying until that year mark. So there is significantly less days left. We're on the downhill now and I can see the bottom, we're approaching quickly!

If you wanted to be nostalgic, check out Day 200 and Day 100!

And today, I had such an enjoyable day. I spent an unusually long time (for me anyway) in my jammies watching TV and chatting with Brandon. After my shower, I brought Dex on a quick walk around the neighborhood. I started washing my sheets. I even started making some banana bread! I haven't done that in so long! I also ate a banana and peanut butter sandwich for lunch... I liked bananas today.

Christina and I went on a quick run to the Thrift Shop, then when I came home I took a nap. A nap! I never take naps. I just have issues sleeping during the day and I feel so weird when I wake up. But yeah, Mr. Kitty and I curled up on the bed in my clean, comfy sheets, and relaxed. It was actually fairly refreshing.

Then later in the afternoon, I went to Christina's. We brought the dogs on a walk and then had dinner at Chili's. I can't help but smile about my day! It just went so well!

Oh, and remember last night I mentioned how I wanted my book that I ordered? Well... it showed up today!!

This deployment is winding down and I'm just in a good mood about it. He'll be home soon!!

Day Two Hundred Ninety-Nine

I want...

My TV shows to actually be on. I'm tired of them skipping weeks!!

My puppy to be a puppy again. He was so cute and fluffy and small. He used to crawl into my lap. It was cute when he licked your face, not gross. And he didn't want you to throw his ball 24/7.

My handsome husband home with his ugly faces ;)

This car. It's not THAT much to ask for, right?

This book I ordered nearly a month ago. Just so y'all know... if you live in Hawaii, be careful about what shipping option you choose. Especially with Barnes & Noble's. Sometimes, it's takes forever for the book to get here. It's stuck somewhere on a ship, I'm sure.

This DOM to be 0%. We're inching closer every day, but it would be nice to be done!!

And with all this whining... it wasn't that bad of a day. :D

Day Two Hundred Ninety-Eight

Happy Easter!

My Agnosticism makes Easter kind of a weird holiday for me. Growing up, we'd go to church on Easter (usually) and of course, hunt for eggs in the morning. My mom was an awesome egg-hider. You had to be quick, though. I have 3 other sisters who like chocolate as much as I do.

This year, there was no one to hide eggs for or who would hide eggs for me! So really, it was a typical Sunday morning. I went to the commissary nice and early. I always go at 8am on Sunday, it's the best time! Even before then, I worked out and biked Dexter around the neighborhood. I chatted with Brandon and watched some TV.

I switched to a nice skirt and tank top, though, because Michelle was hosting her Easter brunch! Last year we attended the same brunch, but with our husbands, of course. This year was lacking a few guys but still had plenty of friends and food. It was nice to sit around and chat with each other over brunch.

We spent the afternoon there and I didn't get home until after 4. Since then I've spent most of my time watching TV. Wow, when was the last time I just spent hours watching TV? I can't remember!

This post is my 300th post! And just two days away from Day 300!

Day Two Hundred Ninety-Seven

We had our big event of the year today for work: The Fun Fest. Fun for others, not so fun for us workers, huh? ;)

It actually wasn't that bad! Sure, I had to get up early and be at work at 6:30am - but hey, I live a minute away, so that wasn't too bad. And yeah, it was hot, but I was under the tent all day. It was super noisy and made it hard to talk to customers, but that's ok. It was a fun little fair and we got out of there at a reasonable time.

Of course, I was exhausted, even at 3pm. I laid on the couch and started some laundry until Christina texted me, asking if I wanted some Menchie's. Um, yes please. We made a slight detour and had dinner at a thai restaurant. Whoops. It was a nice little break!

Wow, can you believe we're almost at 300 days? Geez! And it's almost May!! Time is rolling along at a clip now. I'm excited to see what the next 8 weeks has in store for me. :D

Oh, and he's a cute picture of Winston. He's taken a liking to my blanket and keeps eating it...

Day Two Hundred Ninety-Six

I had a rough start to the day. I was at work for just over 2 hours before I asked my boss if I could go home. Mentally, I wasn't handling it. I needed a personal day, you know? Among other things, I've just been running myself ragged.

It was a good decision, on my part! Today was beautiful, as evidenced by this early morning photo I took of the tree outside my house:

When I got home from work, I slumped on the couch and watched a DVR'd show from last night. Then I decided I needed to take advantage of the beautiful weather and do something. So I packed Dexy up and headed up to the North Shore. I just wanted to dip my toes in the warm water and let Dexter get some energy out. I was so glad I went! It was beautiful out there.

Dexter sure loves playing in the waves. He gets a little crazy attacking them, swallows too much water, and has some "issues" at home. Yuck.

On the way back home, I tried to get some ice cream at McDonald's, but all the drive-through's were packed. Oh well. I ended up getting a milkshake later from BK. I made a stop at Christina's for a bit to scan something and chatted for a bit before heading home for the rest of my personal day.

I then spent a couple hours reading and finishing my latest novel. Oh, I hate finishing books. You know the feeling? Now I feel so lost! Do I read the next one in the series? Do I take a break and read another? What would you do? :P

Now I'm catching up on more DVR. I'm enjoying this laying on the couch thing. I wish I could stay here for days!!

Day Two Hundred Ninety-Five

I'm almost done!!

With work, that is.

I'm looking forward to being finished with this job. I love my coworkers and the work isn't too bad most of the time... I just have lost patience with customers. Today was just a normal day. Kind of busier because of the 3 day weekend, but whatevs. I was of course done by the end of the day. And then this big group of like 10 people came in. 15 minutes before we closed. 5 minutes before I locked the doors, I informed them that we were closing. They started buying stuff. You know what? I don't like my job enough to stay even half an hour past when I was supposed to leave!

Anyway, I cheered myself up with webcam time with Brandon, the awesome NBC comedy lineup, and a fantastic veggie quesadilla. I mean, fantastic! Cheese, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, salsa, rolled up in a tortilla. Yum yum!

Oh, what I wouldn't do for a day of Sims and TV watching.

Still have time to order Pampered Chef stuff!

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Day Two Hundred Ninety-Four

I hosted my first Pampered Chef party today!! I looooveee Pampered Chef stuff. It makes me feel like a real cook, even though I don't use my stuff nearly as often as I should. The party was fun. There were just a handful of us (Christina, Courtney, Michelle, Jennifer, and I) but we had a good time. There were snacks, drinks, and plenty of girl talk. The recipe we made was an almond, cranberry, apple twist. It was delicious!

Let me know if you want to buy anything from Pampered Chef! My party is open until Monday and you can order things and have them shipped directly to your house. Let me know in the comments and I can send you the link!

After the party was over, Christina and I took the kids to the pool. I think Marcus learned to be brave and jump into the pool. Wuh oh.

Then, after expressing a need for pizza, we went to Costco! In addition to getting pizza, I bought this delicious garlic bread and a couple tank tops. Darn those free samples! We both bought more than we had intended.

Ah, it was just a good day. I wish I had more off-days in a row. But hey, only X amount of weeks until Brandon is back, right? I can be happy about that!

Day Two Hundred Ninety-Three

Reason #1001 why I love my doggy:

Love!

I can say that no matter how much they drive me insane, I am SO glad to have Dexy & Winny to keep me company while Brandon is gone. It gives me someone to take care of and someone to make me laugh when he's not around. I love you, Mr. Kitty and lovey-puppy!

This morning I decided to tackle the jungle in my backyard. See, I'm a procrastinator. I haven't picked up poop in a few weeks and I haven't mowed in the same amount of time. This is one of Brandon's jobs (except the excrement) that I try to avoid. The jungle and the trees growing kind of makes me have to do it.

Yes, it was pretty bad. That's Dexter running around, being swallowed by the mass of green plants. ;)

A week ago I bought a weed whacker from Home Depot. I discovered I enjoy weed whacking... I dunno, maybe it's the power of it all! I love it. Hurts my arms though, yikes. Anyway, I had to put this bad boy together, and while doing this, I got super super angry. It was so hard!

Weed whacking took care of my anger! And I have to say, my backyard looks pretty good. I'm not an expert by any means, but the grass is shorter, for what it's worth.

Then this afternoon, I "forced" Christina to go shopping with me at Old Navy. I was looking for a dress, but came back with a coat. Brandon rolls his eyes at this because apparently I buy coats a lot. No, Brandon, I buy zip-up hoodies a lot! Haha. And I almost bought one today too. Anyway, here's the cute coat I got:

Of course, can't be wearing this in Hawaii, but I can dream. It'll be for when we PCS! And get this, Old Navy was having a huge sale on their clearance. This jacket is normally $44.99 and I bought it for $8.47. Oh yeah. Sweet!

The rest of the day consisted of a Jack in the Box lunch, hanging out with two smiley babies, and then a bunch of Sims. It's been a great day! Tomorrow I'm hosting my very first Pampered Chef party. So excited!!

Day Two Hundred Ninety-Two

Someone missed his daddy...

Someone doesn't like the proximity of cat dander to her nose.

And also, misses Winston's daddy.

I was a grumpy old lady yesterday. One of the couple's at the polo match, a friend of a friend, was all kissy-wissy with his girlfriend. They couldn't keep their hands off each other! Of course, it's because they're not married yet. Hehe. It's only been three weeks since Brandon left and I've reverted back to my old ways. My old "no one should love each other because my husband is gone" ways. See? Grumpy old lady!

I am happy that I got off work early today and was able to bring Dexy on a walk. I'm also happy for the lasagna I'm about to eat! Hope everyone is doing well!

Day Two Hundred Ninety-One

I'm so exhausted, but I'm a happy exhausted, a satisfied exhausted. It's days like this that make the deployment a thing of the past!

It was back to the polo field for us today! Last week was such a hit with our group that we had to go back again. This time, we were ready for everything. Christina and I got there early to block out spots for everyone. We were ready with seven chairs, five blankets, a cooler full of drinks and food, a tent for the kids, and a few balls for play with. It wasn't going to be a repeat of last week!

Our friends Janelle & Cole arrived along with a few of their friends, plus Courtney and her baby Connor (who isn't such a baby anymore! He's 9 months old!). They brought along a little grill and some hamburgers and hot dogs. Yummy! It was a great spread of food.

We spent most of the time slightly watching the polo match and chatting with each other. During the breaks and halftime, we threw the football, kicked one of the balls, and tossed the frisbee. At one point I got hit in the head with a frisbee. Brandon laughed when I told him that. Meanie.

We were out there all afternoon, even past the match. It was just nice! I did stop for a moment to look over everyone and think with a sad smile that it would just be great if Brandon could be there. I could see him throwing the ball with the guys and having a good time. I hope we can do stuff like this when he gets home!

Anyway, it was a good day. Marcus and Dominic were wiped out!

In other news... I have a Pampered Chef party this Wednesday (so excited!), have been thinking of a new name for my blog when Brandon is no longer away and pondering a giveaway in May. It would be a nice end to this deployment thing, huh?

Ok, I'm heading off to make a Welcome Home sign for Brandon!! I can't show it to you until he comes home because he wants to be surprised. It's so close!

Day Two Hundred Ninety

I was a good girl this morning. I got up early (because of a growly dog) and brought him on a walk. It was nice! The air was crisp and the neighborhood was quiet. I really should walk him in the morning more often. How lovely!

Then I went to work. Blah.

After work was fun, though! I attended my friend Bonnie Jean's daughters first birthday party/luau. She had a big spread of yummy yummy Hawaiian food (oh I'll miss that when I leave). The house was full of screaming kids and tired grown-ups. The little girl, Clara, got tons of cool gifts, including a cow flashlight that moos when you open it from yours truly!

I was tired and a hyper dog to attend, so I went back home. I opened up the Netflix I got tonight and discovered with some sadness that it was almost 3 hours long! So far I'm half an hour in and not sure how I feel about it. I might turn it off and read my book - it's so good right now, all I want to do is read! You know that feeling?

Tomorrow, we're going to the polo game again! All afternoon! I hope it's fun!

Day Two Hundred Eighty-Nine

I'm having a slight self-induced guilt trip again. It's mostly because of the rain, though! I wanted to walk Dexter after work, I even told him I would, but then the rain happened and I just couldn't. We walked to the mailbox but that was it. I really should start walking him in the morning, because I still have the energy and the weather is usually nicer. I might just have to suck it up and do it!

He's happy now, though, since I got him a couple rawhides at the store. Those keep him entertained forever! I knew when I got a dog that I would have to be responsible and walk him, but with a job it sometimes gets hard. Poor baby. At least he loves the rawhides.

Since my blogs have been boring and whiny and stuff, I thought I'd do a quick update on the deployment! Check out the most recent DOM:

We are now past Week 41, as of yesterday, about ten days away from Day 300 (what?!), and just 3 weeks from when I dropped Brandon off.

That's ok though. The only-3-weeks-since-R&R bit. I was expecting the goodbye to be worse, I was expecting the time until he comes home to be worse. But really, it feels like just before. Wow! I am SO glad we had R&R so late. Yeah, it was kinda sucky in that last month, but it's soooo nice to be thinking "only 2 more months!"

So now here I am, sitting in my new jammies, enjoying my DVR'd shows I missed yesterday, and talking to my lovely Brando. See? Deployment isn't that horrible.

Day Two Hundred Eighty-Eight

I just got back from our big spouses club event of the year. It was a live and silent auction of donated baskets and wow, it was fun!

I headed over right after work, having changed in the back room by the printer (oh yeah). The event was well under way, and I wasn't even that late! The admission was a bit more than usual, but for a good cause. I met up with Christina and spent most of the time with her and the baby, plus our friend Michelle and her friend Claire.

Anyway, we walked around to look at the baskets. There were some NICE ones! But geez, most of them were expensive. I'm proud to say, for Brandon's sake, that I did not spend any money. I bid on a few things, like decorations and jewelry and cupcakes, but was outbid. Once by Christina. :P She let me have one of the cupcakes, though!

The food was great and the entertainment was awesome. The MC was Dita Holifield (or however you spell it) from the local country station. Christina and I had some time to stand around and chat with her. She was fun!!

The rest of the evening I spent walking around with Dominic as my arm cramped. I was hurting from kickboxing yesterday, but that's ok, he was super cute sleeping in my arms. I had to leave though... I'm exhausted!!

In other great news: I got a very belated birthday card from my little sister. It's pretty funny, of course.

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Day Two Hundred Eighty-Seven

I finally got to kickboxing this morning. How long has it been? Since before Brandon came for R&R, so way too long! It was a great class and I'm glad to say that I remembered all the moves. My knees are killing me now though!!

After class and after talking to Brandon, I headed down south to go shopping with Christina! Our first stop was Home Depot so I could buy a weed whacker... I've been needing one for ages. I can't wait to use it! Yeah, I know, I'm weird.

Our next stop was Aloha Salads, of course, for a quick and yummy lunch. Then we went to Target because my mommy got me a gift card for my birthday. I love spending money at Target, haha. I bought a much needed PJ set, some fancy Burt's Bees face wash, and the new Adele CD. I've been buying all kinds of music lately!

The last stop was to Petco for food for my babies, and then we headed back home. Because I was so exhausted, I went back home and rested on the couch for a bit. However, I had some work to do. I vacuumed the house, bottom and top floor, and then headed outside to take care of my garbage can. The dumb garbage guys broke the lid, so I had to figure out a way to fix it, and the can itself smelled horrible, so I sprayed it out. Then I went around the yard, pulling weeds and stuff. After that, I was done.

I haven't had a photo for a couple of days, so I thought I would take one of my yummy, healthy dinner!

Yeah, that's globs of butter in the quinoa. Gotta have some bad with my good! The asparagus was great - I've been into asparagus lately. And the fish... oh my goodness, to die for. It's breaded tilapia. I actually started breading it like you're supposed to and LOVE IT.

Now I'm watching the movie Burlesque and trying to get my weeks laundry done. Normal, normal life. ;)

Day Two Hundred Eighty-Six

I'm gonna whine for a minute here.

It's the same stuff I've said before. I'm so tired of working at a job that is bringing me nowhere. The morning saw half the office in a foul mood and it just rubbed off on it. I'm tired of busy work, I'm tired of dumb customers, I'm tired of working the closing shift... I'm just tired of it. I want to go back to my schedule I had before I started this job. I wrote all morning, and then did housewife stuff in the afternoon. It was so great!!

Only a month and a half left, though, and then I'm done. Then a little over 2 months until Brandon comes home. So close.

In other news... let's see here... I woke up early to a puking dog, that was fun. He ate a toy at Christina's house and puked up the remains. Blech. I'm reading an awesome book (see my reading list above) and can barely put it down. I "sat" down with Brandon tonight to discuss our Australia trip. I feel a little better about the planning, but still overwhelmed.

Yay, I'm off work tomorrow! I hope somebody, not naming any names, will let me sleep in... we will see.

Day Two Hundred Eighty-Five

Both my babies are fast asleep on the couch. Winston is on his side on the chair with a leg in the air, and Dexter is curled into a ball at the end where my feet go. Eyes are closed and they're dreaming. They've been so lovey lately. Especially Winston, actually. He's missing the attention his daddy was giving him! He's been meowing at me and laying on my chest. I have to turn my head away because he's been making me sneeze! And Dexter, he's been wanting me to pet him and pet him and pet him. He loves it!

Today was a typical work day... goodness, this week will be boring, with 5 days of work! I got up early and did my Wii Fit game (Day 6 out of 20!), threw the ball for Dex outside, and spent some time talking to Brandon. Oh, and I made a FANTASTIC breakfast burrito! I really wanted to use my favorite salsa that made an appearance at the commissary, Green Mountain Gringo. Oh goodness, it was delicious. I love some good food!!

Work was sloooowwww. Another brigade has deployed and there are no men left on post! But I don't mind slow days at work. I was researching our trip to Australia.

Speaking of our trip.... holy moly, I really need to work on it. I don't know where to start, I feel overwhelmed. I wish I could sit down with Brandon and plan it out. I feel like I'm all on my own with this thing!

OK, back to watching the DVR! :D
