Day One-Hundred-Three

Meet cow-chair.

I found cow-chair at the Thrift Shop. See, I have this long media desk in our kitchen/dining room area and, lacking a proper desk space, I've decided to repurpose it to my writing area. I needed a chair though. Instead of buying a new chair, I wanted a project. In comes cow-chair.

Yeah, it needed a makeover.

So yesterday at Lowe's, I got all the tools:

I suited up with a mask and an apron, hooked up the hand sander and got to work! Wow, that hand sander is loud! And fast. Geez. I just wasn't expecting it. It was tons of fun though.

Here's the result of the power sander:

Then I got to work in the crevices with my handy sander sponge thing.

The result:

I had only planned on sanding, but it really didn't take that long at all. So I figured... let's prime! I have time! (Hey, that rhymes!) I sure love painting. It was tons of fun.

Then I noticed rain clouds and it started sprinkling a bit. :(

I fought through, though, and finished priming! The chair was looking like new already! It actually looks nice in white, but darn it, I bought paint, so I was going to paint it.

Eww, I have paint all over me.

(Yeah, that's a Starbucks apron. It's the only apron I own. No, I never worked at Starbucks. I got it from a lady that I used to work for. I walked her dog and vacuumed her house, she gave me an apron when I said I needed one. Now it's my everything apron)

Right after priming, I had a brief intermission to go shopping with Christina. We bought supplies for her son's birthday party on Saturday. I was gone for a few hours, letting my chair dry and chill in the backyard.

Next, Purple Paint!

(Oatlands Violet, to be exact)

This is after one coat. Note Dexter (aka the landscaper) in the background.

Aaaandddd... The Finished Product!!

Looks like cow-chair got a sex change, huh? Cow-chair is now Chantal's Purple Chair. Purple is my favorite color. I contemplated painting the chair brown to match the furniture, but then I said, "Why do that? You can paint it any color you want!" So now it's purple. Yay.

  1. This is so cute. Have I already mentioned that I envy your craftyness and fearless attitude towards productive daily activities?? (Mowing the grass, bike riding, the cow chair) 'Cause I do!! You inspire me to get my lazy butt out of bed! :)

  2. I love it!

    RIP Cows! lol!

I never did understand the cow thing for decorating... and I grew up on a farm.... with cows.

  3. What a great project, I am very jealous I have to say.

    p.s. I'm a new follower, I love your blog!
